In this post we help you choose the toilet you need for your bathroom. Before deciding, there is a series of information that you must take into account so that the choice is satisfactory and can be installed correctly. There are several types of toilets, but these are the most popular:
- Floor-standing toilets (compact or open-standing)
- Suspended toilets
This is the most typical installation that you will find in most homes. For this type of toilet, look at both the drain or outlet type and the feed or inlet type.
The difference between a compact toilet and an open standing toilet is that the former is flush with the wall and the latter has a gap between the bowl and the wall.
Type of drain (or outlet): refers to the place through which the toilet evacuates wastewater. It can have a vertical or floor outlet, or a horizontal or wall outlet. If you want to renovate your toilet, this information is essential so that you can install the new toilet correctly.
Compact toilets: They have a DUAL drain, valid for floor or wall installations depending on your need.
Open standing toilets:
- Vertical outlet: the toilet drains towards the floor. The standard measurement from the wall to the hole is between 15 and 21 centimeters.
- Horizontal outlet: the toilet drains towards the wall.
Type of feed (or inlet): refers to the entry of water into the cistern. There are two types of feeding:
- Top (or side) entry: the water enters the cistern from the top, on one of the sides. There is a possibility that it has an entrance on both sides, in that case, it would indicate it in the description. The shot from the ground is usually between 60 and 70 cm.
- Bottom entry: Water enters the cistern through the bottom of the toilet. The water intake is usually between 10 and 20 cm from the ground.
These are toilets that are installed hanging on the wall. The cistern is hidden, and is installed recessed with a frame. With this type of toilet, with a more modern and aesthetic appearance, you will also gain in hygiene, since cleaning it is much more comfortable.
For installation, you will need to add the built-in toilet cistern to your basket, as it is not included in the wall-hung toilet.
In future posts, we will recommend which seat cover to choose: cushioned or with a cushioned fall?
