Buying the toilet seat for your toilet and getting it right can be a difficult task because there are endless sizes, materials, versions, colors and models of toilet seats.
Okay, your toilet seat has been "regular" for years, but now, it has finished breaking or looks, let's say, not very presentable. It may also be that you have decided to modernize your toilet seat and want to install a smart or Japanese toilet seat. In any case, the time has come to replace it, and, with this post, we help you make the right choice.
Identify the manufacturer and model
The first thing is to identify the manufacturer and model of our toilet. For example Victory Rock O Sanitana Greece. Normally you will be able to see the Mark on the side or on the lid of the tank.
Not all toilets indicate the make or model. If you do not have this information, you can send us an email or WhatsApp with the front and profile images of the toilet with the old lid installed (and in the closed position). Our technical team will be able to identify it without problems and send you the direct link to the product.
Choose between the different versions
Once you know exactly which lid is compatible with your toilet, you must choose between the different versions.
Finish or color
White: the most repeated finish in all bathrooms. Many seat covers are only sold with this finish since it is the most widespread.
Pergamon: a light beige, similar to cream. A very fashionable finish in the 80s that is still manufactured but is difficult to find.
other finishes: some manufacturers offer seat covers in black, light wood, dark wood, champagne, matte finish, etc.
Material
Manufacturers use different types of materials, here we detail the most common ones.
Plastic: It is the most basic and cheapest material. It is not very resistant and can yellow over time.
Thermodur: Some manufacturers also call it Supralit or Duroplast. It is a material similar to ABS but harder and reinforced. Highly resistant to scratches, antibacterial and does not yellow.
Wood: normally used for the most classic toilet series. They require special care in cleaning and maintenance.
MDF: Its initials in English refer to medium-density wood fiber. It is a type of wood made up of fibers that is very resistant to deformations and cracks.
Drop type
Normal fall: It is the most common and cheapest type of toilet seat. The hinges close normally, without cushioning or soft close.
Cushioned fall or soft close: The hinges provide a smooth and progressive closing. Prevents annoying noises when the lid falls and hits the toilet.
These are smart lids, also known as Japanese-style lids. These covers integrate a bidet and a remote control or side control. Some of them even have seat heating.
